A Bitcoin wallet, inactive since November 2012 and containing 444.81 BTC worth approximately $50.7 million, has made its first transactions, according to data from the BTC mempool.
On Thursday morning at 11:27 UTC, 137 BTC worth approximately $15.6 million were sent. Of these, approximately 132 BTC went to a new address, while 5 BTC were transferred to a Kraken deposit address, indicating a possible sale.
When the coins were last moved, the Bitcoin price was just $12.22. Today, it is trading at approximately $114,000, representing a 9,300-fold increase in value. After the transaction, the original “1Q397” wallet was left with 307.79 BTC, currently worth approximately $35.1 million.
In recent months, an increasing number of old Satoshi-era wallets have become active again. In July, Galaxy Digital moved over 80,000 BTC, worth more than $9 billion, for a long-time investor, while another whale shifted billions from Bitcoin to Ethereum.
